How bout the WINGS!!!

These Wings are on their way to another Stanley Cup finals baby!! What can I say, the Redwings franchise has to be considered the strongest franchise in the last 20 years right? Heck, maybe ever. Every year, we are a bonafide contender.

The wings played great. They really took it to Chicago. This has to be a wonderful psychological "uplifting" game for us. Everyone is really on the top of their games. All I can say is I hope every player is feeling better and ready to go game 5 back in D-town to put away Chicago!

I would love to hear some comments from some long time hockey fans, I am relatively new to really getting into the whole "game of hockey" instead of "just watching". So for someone to be able to tell me what they think of the game today. If todays game is better than the great rivalries with Detroit and Colorado. Not saying Chicago is a major rivalry, but just wondering about the game of hockey. Thanks guys, have a great holiday!

Oh what to talk about?

I have no idea what I should be talking about, the Pistons are out. The Lions were awful last season. The Tigers? Well, I'm not a big baseball fan. So instead of bringing up once again what a stupid move it was trading away one of the all time great Pistons(legacies stay with your franchise, they retire where they played so well so long, and yes, Chauncey is one of the all time great Pistons), for a volatile, selfish scoring man who plays no defense. Wait, isn't that what makes up the Pistons team for last 5-6 years, TEAM... Read more

First blog in a long time

It has been such a long time since I have written anything on here, I almost forgot how to do it! Anyways, I am writting two blogs right after this one for today, so, I hope you all will enjoy them. I appoligize for those of you who wanted something more to read, and I haven't given it to you. That is all changing. I've had to juggle school and this, and I know have a real solid handle on my school, so I can get back to writting, yay!... Read more

The force behind Lions Nation

I know it's a trap, I know I'm going to get burned, but I can't help it.  Right now, despite myself, basking in the afterglow of a refreshingly intelligent draft and the Lions' recent signing of homegrown MLB Larry Foote, I'm feeling a sort of cautious optimism.I've felt this way before.  The last time about a year ago, when Gosder Cherilous was a mauler waiting to be unleashed on an unsuspecting NFL, when the Calvin Johnson/Roy Williams combination was primed for unstoppability, and when Jon Kitna confidently restated his 10-win prediction after a perfect pre-season performance.  When 0-16 was still... DeAndre Levy and his adjustment to the MLB position

DeAndre Levy who was the Lions first third round pick(if that makes sense), this is an update on the progression he is achieving as he tries to become the next great middle linebacker of the Detroit Lions franchise. This is a taste of what he is being forced into and how he is dealing with the new scheme and terminology. DeAndre Levy As a three-year starter for the Badgers at the strong-side, Levy amassed 211 tackles (116 solo), six fumble recoveries, two interceptions, seven passes defensed and 15.0 sacks for a loss of 105 yards. Now that Levy has entered... Read more

Stafford's First Day

Yesterday was the first day of rookie training camp for the Detroit Lions. Stafford was there and put on a show. "It was good to play football again," he said. "It's been a while. It's just good to get out here and run around with the guys and be a part of a team again." Stafford started out the day with a lot of jitters, but found his way and settled down. So Mathew settled down and that is good new for all Lions fans, as Stafford was signed to the largest contract and largest guarantee payout ever(78 million with... Read more

The Pistons should watch Chicago

Oh yeah.  That's what heart looks like. Now I remember.I stayed up for the duration of the Celtics/Bulls game last night, all three overtimes of it.  I'm paying for it today, but I have no regrets.  I saw something in the Bulls that I haven't seen out of the Detroit Pistons for the better part of a year.    I noticed it first near the end of the fourth quarter.  The game all but won, supposedly capped off by an exclamation-point dunk by Bulls forward Tyrus Thomas, Chicago watched a 12 point lead evaporate in about a minute at the hands of... Great draft, and great start, by Martin Mayhew & Co.

I haven't taken the opportunity to sound off about the draft since it all went down, but thankfully the DSR's newest member, TMac1154 has been ably picking up the slack in my absence.  Thank you, Kyle, and keep up the good work!Moving on to the NFL draft, let me repeat those thanks, but to a different subject.Thank you, Martin Mayhew, and keep up the good work.Go on the Lions' message boards at any time since the draft, and what you'll find is many different variations of "the Lions suck," "what a crappy draft," "Mayhew = Millen II," etc.  The prevailing... What's the latest with Foote and his desire to be a Lion?

Larry Foote is from Detroit. He played at Michigan. He was drafted to the Steelers. Now there are conflicting reports that he's available. He may in face be available "down the road". Regardless of the case, if the Lions are able to get him, they will be able to sit Levy and 2 years ago possible mlb Dizon, and have Foote vastly improve Detroit's run defense. Also, he will be widely beneficial to teaching and mentoring the numorous younger players on the team as well. Here's to the hope that he ends up in silver and blue!... Read more

Lions Draft = Much Better Than Expected

Well what can be said. The new Lions are not complete failures. Given, this is before a pre season game has even been played. However, the draft was very successful. Initially, I was pretty happy with the draft, however I did wish a few different picks were made. Oh well. We all know about Stafford going #1, while many "Michiganians" don't understand the pick, I think it was a wonderful pick. Elite arm strength and the ability to get the ball downfield to Calvin Johnson. Who BTW, is our FRANCHISE PLAYER. Stafford can sit and learn until he's ready.  Now I... Read more
